PITTSBURG EXPOSITION.

In addition to what the management

exhibit* and the most elaborate system
of decoration it has ever provided for
the patrons of the ureat I'oint show, it
hnn arranged to have ilurfug the coming
season a number of entirely new amuse
ment features. Prominent among these
is the Mexican Village, which will be
placed on the cast side of the vacant
space south of the mniu building.
The village will be made up entirely of
native- Mexicans. Th'\v will typify the
Mexican domestic character, thr customs
of their country, ih* ir social life aud their
progress lit industry ami art. Ihe na
live dress will be retained in full, and the
costumes of both sexes for nil ages and
for all occa» ion to will be shown, from the

A Day in tUe Alps, another new fea
ture, will be seen in Pittsburgh for the
first time. An entirely uevv caroussel,
strictly up to date in every way, is be
ing constructed, and will be found in
the old "spot, iu the center of the open
air promenade.
An attraction that will give pleasure to
everyone is Jim Key, the famous edu
cated horse. It is difficult to say too
much of this equine marvel of the ecu
tury. To believe all that is true of
his wonderful powers he must be seen.
It is only a small part to say that Jim
rends, writes, spells, eotints money, makes
change wilh a < a>h register, and answers
questions for everybody. These are uut
tricks; they are actual performances, and
they are given in a way that obviates all
chance for deception. In addition to uti
xnistakable evidence of ability to reason.
Jim lias a thousand clever tricks and
jokes, practically none of which ha«e
ever been at tempted with other gifted
animals.
Although his existence is sueh that Jim
ia prone to lie constantly in good tlesli,
and despite the fact that he is no longer

minutes, ilis guit is that of a trotter,

deed, Jim is as versatile in the matter

Mr. Kit/.patrick has under way, ar
rangements fur a number of special ex
cursioiis on the various railroads, in ad
dition to the regular concessions given tu
the Kxposition by the local association
of passenger agents.
Mechanical flail, at present, bears a
strong resemblance to sonic of Pitts
burgh's great manufacturing plants The
sound of the saw and hammer, coupled

maker, escape on all sides, and attract
the attention of passers-by. The changes
there are fully as great as in the main
building, and the exhibits which will greet
visitors this year are for the most part
new.
Work Is progressing rapidly on the
platforms anil tables for the exhibit of
the Philadelphia Commercial Museum,
which will occupy one-elglh of the floor
space of the building It is regarded as
one of the most important exhibits that
has ever been presented at the exposition,
and will be a subject of special study by
the more advanced pupils of the public
schools and other educational institutions.
There has been considerable agitation in
various large cities with a view to inter
esting merchants anil the public getter
ally in the necessity for sometliiug in
the way of technical education iu buy
ing aud selling the commodities of life.
The Philadelphia institution is the only
