The United States Supreme Conrt has
decided that convictions under the oleo
margarine laws of Pennsylvania an-:

Justice Peckham announced the opinioi
of the court. There were three case
from Pennsylvania and one from New
Hampshire. In Pennsylvania Georgt
Schaflenger, George E. Paul and .T Oti-
Paul were prosecuted in the State court -
for the violation of the State law pro
hibiting the introduction of oleomarg
arine into the State. The trial conn
held the law to be invalid under the
Federal constitution on the ground that
it infringed the provision in regard tc
interstate commerce. The State su
preme court reversed this decision,hold
ing the law to be constitutional Th*

reverses the Stite supreme court and

William Nixon of Buffalo twp., shot
himself throngh the head last Thurs
day while insane from typhoid and died
a few hours after.
The Freeport Journal of last Friday

"He bad been down with typhoid
fever, but was getting along all right
Dr McCulloch had been there the night
before at ten o'clock and left him coin
paratively comfortable. Yesterday the
family were at breakfast ami Mrs. He
selgesser was in the room He jumped
out of bed, shoved her out of the room
and locked the door His wife came rip
stairs, nnd he tired a shot through the
door, the ball passing between the tw<
women He fired again at. his head,
with fatal result lie had evidently
contemplated doing it, for he talked t<
