"Thought the Child Would Die."
That is what the Sisters of the
Home for Catholic children, in Boston,
said about a poor little child who was
racking itself almost to death with
whooping cough. The child was sud
denly taken with severe spasms and
vomiting, and with frightful pains in
the head. The Sisters write: "We
used Perry Davis's Pain Killer with
the most astonishing results. In a
few hours the disease was gone and
the child was well."

Dealer reports that Hon. Martin A.
Foran, Congressman elect front the

mule riding. It will soon be taken up

Harvard College.
At a recent meeting of the overseers
of Harvard College, a discussion was
held upon a resolution which had been
before the board for several weeks,
that in the opinion of this board ; the
statutes making attendance on morning
prayers and other religious exercises
compulsory should be repealed. The
board, by a strong vote, refused to
adopt the resolution. But Mr. George
Shiffer, lately from Martinsburg, Blair
Co., Pa., who had a cancerous growth
on his nose, and who was advised the
use of Peruna before a visit to a cancer
hospital, was allowed to take that par
excellent remedy, and by its use for a
very short time, was cured completely

—There is living in Rockport,
Maine, a man whose name spells the
same backward as forward. It is

A game has been played by electric
light in the West. In Philadelphia a
contest between a two-legged, one
armed nine and a two-armed, one-leg
ged nine resulted in a victory for the
former, who now claim the cripple
championship of the world. A nine
composed of colored women is nearly
ready to enter the field. In New York
a club has greatly increased its gale
receipts by putting a famous pugilist
on exhibition as pitcher. This idea
might be carried farther. A nine
made up of the wild Australian chil
dren as the battery, the transparent
headed baby as short stop, Zulus on
the bases, and bearded women and
living skeletons in the field, would go
far toward satisfying even the strong
est craving for novelty.

week in about a foot of water. It had lain
ihree mouths and over in snow and water,

hair-spring.

The several Courts of the connty of Butler
commence on the first Monday of March, June,
September and December, and continuo two
weeks, or eo long as nccesuary to dispose of the
business. No causes are put down for trial or
traverse jurors summoned for the first week of
the several terms.
