We notice that »n interesting in surance case has just been decided in New York. Some twenty-five or thirty years ago a man named Da\ is insured hip life in the New ork In surance Company for the benefit of his wife, and stipulating in tbe policies that in the event of her death the money should go to his children. Mrs. Davis died some years ago, and subsequently Davis surrendered the policies to the company upon the pay ment to him of a certain sum of money. Meantime Davis' children had become of age, and alter his death, which occurred in 1879, they brought suit to recover the life insurance. The case has just been decided, the Court holding that the transfer back to the fompany of policies was void. Prior to filing their suit, however, the heirs of Davis proffered the amount of back premium due on the policies, which was refused. "Presumption begins in igno rance and ends in ruin."
