We went down to the overland train
Thursday evening to see the great
Esthete. We picked him out without
any trouble, and tackeled him for a
quiet little talk all by ourselves.
Mr. Wilde is very tall, with a face
like a broadax. We told him that our
name was Nye, the great Wyoming
.Esthete. He smiled like the rolling
mill and shook bauds.
He wore a soft hat and a kind of
steel-colored velvet sack coat. He also
wore his hands in his pockets clear up
to the elbow joint. He wears a kind
of Bvron collar and a necktie the color
of a diseased liver. His pants were of
a gray material and held in place >\ itli
a °pa!e pink gum suspender. TLese
w ere shown as he stojped over, his
coat being cut just below the shoulder
blades. His shoulder blades are high
and intellectual.
He wears his hair long, with hay
aau litilp mementoes from the sleeping
car in it. liis fa/ue is tfcin and when
buried in a piece of pie must pe a
ghastly sight.
Mr. Wilde's t£ctb are evidently bis
own. Nobody could make teeth like
them and escape the vigilance com
mittee. They are broad and promin
ent, with a to go out and
look for air He does uot eppp. so
strong but bis bFcath proves tbi© im:
pression to be erroneous. Mr. \V ilcjc
wore a silk handkerchief the eolot' of
the illustration found in the public
documents describing the cattle plague.
lie spoke of various topics with a
seductive drajpl, jyriVgling bis limber,
angle-worm legs as lie pos
ing like a giraffe with the colic, lor the
benefit o? the ladies who stood near.
He wipes bis nose in a linguid, yet
soulful a -»f, tfe&t makes 7 on wish he
would so agaiq.
Wa aekcd him when he would re
turn to Kng'aod, PD(I be tossed his
mane in the air and said:
"Ah, I don't know whether i sball
survive or not."
"You get a good deal of free adver
tising I gpe." said the Boomerang man,
gnawing a iii Ate frjfgippnt from an ir
regular piece of navy and tboijgbj<l,eP ßr
ly stepping on the patent-leather shoes
of the great .Esthetic.
"Ob, yps,'' said Oc., as he straight
ened up and e#tep4p4 his neck up
through bis collar tjll you popld see
the scolloped fdge of his chemise.
"Yes sir. Most too
Still it pays moderately weii, ho, he.
he. However, it is absolutely stupid
of thpm to make such beastly and
peculiar little jokes upon me, ye
know."
We had a good deal more confiden
tial talk with him before the train left,
which we may give to the public after
aw bite, bat at preseut space furbids.
Mr. Wilde's complexion is very
palid, with here and there • little pim
ple thst relieves the monotony some.
He wears no beard or moustache at all,
but makes up for that with a large
growth of hair on his bfPfl, which fulls
in graceful festoons opcr bis shoulders
like a horse'® tail over an olive-green
dash-board. Tie is just as full of soul
as be can be and walks, and breathes,
and exists like a two-year-old steer in
a cabbage grove. He smiles every lit
tle whila Jiße a colicky baby in its
sleep, and sighs and places himself in
statuesque posi'ions, as though some
thing had given way in his apparel
and hfi was trying to keep his etherial
pantaloons ub till people looked the
other way.— Bill Ny«.
A remedy resting on the basis of in
trinsic worth demands the confidence
of all. Dr. Bull'* Cough Syrup is
known and used most satisfactorily
throughout the land, as is attested by
its sales. Your druggist keeps it.

'I can't think that all sinners will be

is my husband, now. He is a bad

'Amen!' shouted Nimbletung from the
back seat.

A society drama was presented at
the theater in Salt Lake City recently,
but when in the third act the husband
began to rave aud tear around because
his wife had run off with another man,
the audience with one accord rose from
their seats, and exclaiming, 'The idea
of making all that fuss about one
woman,' left the place in disgust.

A queer thing happened near Spring
field, Mass., the other day. A young
farmer says he was at work in a field
when a man and woman came along
in a carriage. The man asked him if
he would marry the woman for SSOO ;
he consented, and they went to the
•nearest justice, who performed the
ceremony He shows the SSOO as proof
and the justice bears him out in the
strange story. The mysterious bride
and her companion rode away immedi
ately after the marriage, and no more
is known of them.

A Strange Fatality.
PHILADELPHIA, Abril 19.—A strange'
case of fatality, in which three sisters
died within half au hour, was reported
to the Coroner to-day. Two of the
women, Sarah Watson a widow aged
52 vears, aud Mrs. Cynthia \\ iusmore,
aired 53 years, lived at 329 Wharton
Street, aud the third, Mrs. Elizabeth
Smith, at 1,335 South Fourth street.
At about ten o'clock last night, Mrs.
Winsmore went to her bedroom to re
tire for the night when she heard a
noise in her sister's room. Ou reaching
her room, Mrs. Winsmore found Mrs.
Watson in a dying condition. Medic
al assistance was promptly summoned,
and Mrs. Smith was also sent for.
The physicians found Mrs. Smith in
a comatose condition, and administer
ed ammonia, but she did not revive,
j and expired in a few minutes. Before
th-'V had recovered from their astonirh
rnect Mrs. Winsmore had overcome
and fell to the floor in an unconscious
stale, and in ten minutes shewasdaad,
and ten minutes later Mrs. Smith, the
third sister, was a corpse. The phys
icians were non plussed, and the great
est consternation spread through the
household. Tfte only theory upon
which the deaths are accounted ftir is
that Mrs. Watson was siezed with a
congestive chill aud died from an at
tack of which ensued, and
that both Mrs. Winsmore and \}rs.
Smith died from neryous prostartion,
caused attacks of heart disease
op appoplexy. is no suspicion of
foul play, as {.hey liyet}. on the most
amicable terpjs. Post-mortem examin
ations were made this afternoon, the
result will be reported at the Coroner's
imjuest, which will probably be held
to-morrow.

Mr. Beecher has a very comforting
kind ot religion. Some people might
sav it was self-conceit rather than re
ligion, but never mind. He told his
people last Sundav, in effect, that he
hail certain rights which the Lord was
bound to respect; that he did not
propose t# go to the bar of final judg
ment as a gi amp, but as a very fair and
decent sort of a man. As to ertcrnal
punishment for the few peccadilloes of
this life he won't stand the thing for a
ainiute. Well, perhaps he can tell
more about all that by and by.
A Remarkable Coincidence.
It is a matter of journalistic record,
that some years since, a schooner set
pail from Baltimore, having on board
a crew of thirteen men. By a most
singular freak of nature, the entire
force was attacked by a skin disease,
which manifested itself in large ulcera
ted sores on the arms and hands,
wholly incapaciating the men from du
ty. Tfc£ result was that the vessel
was towed back to the city where the
men were placed in a hospital. Moral !
Had Swayne's Ointment for skin dis
ease been used in the first place, the
crtw would have recovered in from 12
to 24 hours.
