NOTICE TO TAXA3LES.
Notice is hereby given to the taxable in
habitants of Monroe county, and all others
owning taxable property in said county,
that appeals will be held for the various
townships, at the Commissioners Office, in
Stroudsburg, on the following days .
On Monday, iUny 3I,
For Tobyhanna, Ross, Eldred, Chesnuthill,
(Joolbaugh, Hamilton, Jackson, Poconb and
PoIk townships.
On Tuesday 35a y 4tli,
For Stroud, M Smithfield, Smithfield, Price
and Paradise townships.
Therefore, in conformity to law,
Public .Notice
Is hereby given to all persons owning, claim
ing, or holding properly, objects and things
in the townships and boroughs in the county
of Monroe, taxable by the. laws of this Com
monwealth, "for all State and County pur-
poses whatsoever,'" that on the days and at
the place aforesaid, an Appeal in conformity
to law will be held, when and where the
owners and claimants, and holders of prop
erty, objects and things in the townships,
and boroughs aforesaid, who may feel them
selves aggrieved, are specially notified to
attend and apply to the undersigned for re
diess, which will be granted: Provided, the
grievances they respectively complain of he
inconsistent with the provisions of the acts of
assembly relative to taxation, for all purpo
ses as aforesaid.
Public notice is also hereby given to all
innkeepers and Tavern keepers in the Coun
:y of Monroe, that an appeal will be held re
lative to the valuation of the yearly rentals
of their respective inns and taverns by them
respectively kept, and of the houses in which
inns and taverns are intenddd to be kept, that
said appeal will be held on the same days,
and at the same place that notice hereinbe
fore is given for the holding of the appeal re
lative to taxation for all slate and county pur
poses whatsoeeer, at which time and place
all who may feel themselves aggrieved can
apply to the undersigned for redress.

VALUABLE TANNERY
AND
REAL ESTATE.
Late the jirojwly of S. Meyer, dccb
33y virtue of an order of the Orphan's
Court of the County of Monroe, will
be sold at public sale on the premises
in Bartonsville, Pocono township, Mon
roe co.,on Monday the 10th day of May
nest, at ten o'clock A. M., a valuable
stone tannery and" three contigusus tracts
of land containing about 42 acres. The
tannery is 75 feet by 56 feet, with an
addition of 25 feet, three stories high,
containing 4S vats, all as good as new ;
a bark shed, 1G by 90 feet. The whole
is well and substantially built, and con
tains all necessary tanning took and ap
paratus, with one of the best water pow
ers in the country.
On the same property is also
a large frame dwelling house,
'well-finished frame barn, store
:house. and wacron house. The
land is nearly all improved, and in a
high state of cultivation, adjoining lands
f John Edicger and others, in Bartons
ville. The above property has many ad
vantages as a tannery; it is on the North
& South turnpike, and in a neighborhood
where oak and hemlock bark is plenty
and easily to be hadj and is estimated to
tan 9000 hides per year.
It is very seldom that a better opportu
nity is offered to a man with a moderate
capital to go into the tanning business.
Everything about the works has been got
up very substantially. Terms and condi
tions made known at Ike time of sale by
