Whereas, the Honorable William Jcssup, President Judge of the 11 th Judicial dis trict of Pennsylvania, composed of the counties of Susquehanna, Wayne, Monroe and Pike, and Joseph Keller and John T. Associate Judges of the courts of Common Pleas of the county of Ion roc, and by virtr.e of their offices, Justices of the Courts of Oyer and Terminer and General Jail Delivery, and Court of Gen eral Quarter Sessions in and for the said county of Monroe, have issued their pre cept to me, commanding; that a Court of Quarter Sessions and Common Pleas, and General Jail Delivery and court of Quar ert Sessions of the Peace, for the said coun ty of Monroe, to be holden at Strouds burg, on Tuesday, the 13lh day of De- Is therefore hereby given co the Coro ner, the Justices of the Peace, and Con stables of the said county of Monroe, that they be then and there with their rolls, records, inquisitions, examinations and other remembrances, to do those things which to their offices are appertaining, and also that those who are bound by re cognizance to prosecute and give evidence against the prisoners that are or shall be in the Jail of the said county of Monroe, or against persons who stand charged with the commission of offences, to be then and there to prosecute or testify as shall be just. OLIS D. GORDOj Sheriff. (God save the Commonwealth. Shenn ' Othce, Slrouds bur;, Nov. 9, 1842. 4w. SI NOTICE 02 those vrlio arc about to build or repair. The umdersigned respect full)' informs the public that he is duly authorised to sell the Kight of the Johnson Re-acting Water wheel, to the counties of Monroe and Pike, patented iho 2?d day of June, A. D. 1840. The Johnson re-acting wheel is the best now in use to propel a saw null; it excels any other wheel in the United States under a low water brad; under a head from 5 to 7 feet is suffi tieni to cut from 2 to 3000 feet in twelve hours of inch or any other boards with ease. The uheds require, under a 7 fool head, 14,0 inches f water and so in proportion to any other head. I'nder a 7 foot head, the Saw will make from tiO J to 250 strokes per minute. The advan tage which those wheels have over any other wheels is, that it requires but four posts to make the loom or hulk head; the wheels are hung on liifl crank shaft. Two wheels are what is re quired for a Saw null, and the posts planked iu Mile the same as a pen stock. I have built one of those mills this season, on the Roaring JJrook, in Luzerne county, f;r Mr. S. P. Tem jilin, under about a 7 foot head, which will cut lroni 3 to 4000 in twelve hours of inch boards; therefore, 1 can recommend them as the best wheels now in operation. There are several more mills in that part, all under low heads which answers the same purpose as that of Mr. Templins. For further information, please call on the subscriber. FERDINAND DUTOT. Agent.
