our commerce and currency.
Secret or Oath-bound Societies. 1 have not
been a member of a masonic lodge in thirtv
years, nor a visiter of any lodge since, except
onec now more than sixteen years ago. There
are at many Academies and Colleges, as is well
known, associations of students, tutors, and pro
fessors, for purelr literary purposes ; and their
meetings, generally, for aught that I know, may
be secret. Twenty-eight years ago, I was Once
present with such an association, & neversince;
and I have, within five years, received many
flattering notices of my having been enrolled
as an honorary member of as many such as
sociations. J am sorry to ho reminded that,
by some strange neglect, I have failed to ac
cept one of those honorable distinctions.
Finally I am asked If nominated as a can
didate for the Presidency, would you accept the
nomination? I beg leave respectfully to reply
Yes; provided that I be not required to re
iiQtince any principle professed above. My
principles are convictions.
Hoping that you, who. have done me (he .ho

A- ft' AT SJJS AIL S&JBMEiyr,
Suited to our Constitutions, and competent to the

INDIAN VEGETABLE PILLS,
OF THE
RToviSi Aiissritaia CoOgJIj o Mea&tEi.
THESE extraordinary Pills are composed of
plants which grow spontaneously on our own soil;
and are therefore, better adapted to our constitu
tions, than medicine concocted from foreign drugs,
however well they may be compounded; and as
THE INDIAN VEGETABL K PI LLS are found
ed upon the principle that the human body is in
truth
SUBJECT TO BUT ONE DISEASE,
viz: corrupt humors, and that said medicine cures
this disease on
NATURAL PRINCIPLES
by cleansing and purifying ihe body; it will be man
ifest, that if the constitution be not entirely ex
hausted a perseverance ia their use, according
to directions, is absolutely certain to drive disease
of every name from the body.
When we wish to restore aSwamp or Morass
to fertility, we drain it of tlie superabundant wa
ters; in like manner if we wish to restore the body
to health, we must cleanse it of impurity.
THE INDIAN VEGETABLE PILLS
Will be found one of the best, if not the very best
medicine tn the world for carrying out this
GRAND PURIFYING PRINCIPLE-,
because they expel from the body all morbid and
corrupt humors, the cause of disease in an easy
and NATURAL MANNER; and while they every
day
GIVE EASE AND PLEASURE,
disease, of every name is rapidly driven from the
body
The above named Indian Vegetable Pills, have
been three years befoie the American public; and
we can now say without fear of contradiction, that
of all the various medicines which have heretofore
been popular, not onChrrs -given such universal
satisfaction, or obtained such, a permanent hold
upon the aflections of the people. Not only do all
who use it invariably experience relief, and re
commend it in the strongest terms: but it has ef
fected some of the most astonishing cures ever
performed by medicine.
Hitherto, very few of the numerous testimonial
which have been received in favor of this extraor
dinary medicine have been published, as the med
icine obtained its present great celebrity more by
its own intrinsic goodness than from extensive ad
vertising. It has been deemed proper however to
ofler ihe following opinions of the public press,
together with a few extracts from letters of Agents,
merely to show, that the fame of the Indian Vege
table Pills, is not confined to any one section, but
is rapidly extending itselfto every part of the Union.
From the Philadelphia Saturday Evening Post.
THE INDIAN VEGETABLE PILLS.
Wright's Indian Vegetable Pills are attaining
great celebrity in New England as well as other
parts of the United States. The attempt of per
sons to defraud the public by the sale of spurious
"articles, meets wnh general reprobation. Alf.
Wright is an indefatigable business man, and
shows an array of cures by the medicine which
warrant confidence in the virtues of his Indian
Vegetable Pills.
From the Philadelphia. Spirit of the Times.
THE INDIAN VEGETABLE PILLS.
People are pretty well satisfied by this time,
that Calomel, and the other thousand and one min
eral preparations of the shops, arc better adapted,
as a general rule, to kill rather than cure the pa
tient; as a matter of course, vegetable medicines
are therefore in great request. There are very
many humbugs, however, among the latter, and
we would advise all those who have the least re-
gard for their health, to try the INDIAN VEC.E-
TABLE PILLS OF THE NORTH AMERICAN
COLLEGE OF HEALTH, sold at 1G9 Race
street, Phladelphia ; as they aro the preparation of
one intimately acquainted with the healing art.

Dear Sir: About. two months ago, T had busi
ness in Baltimore, and called at your office, and
bought a few boxes of the Indian Vegetable Pills;
and upon trying them I found them to be far supe
rior to Tills, or any other medicine 1 hail
ever used. I had been subject to a cnuah for five
years, past, and during the time have taken a. vari
ety of medicines without any relief, until I got "the
Indian Vegetable Pills, and by taking four dwses,
the cough began to leave me; and I now enjoy bet.
ter health than I have done for years past After
I found them to be a valuable medicine, I imme
diately sent to Baltimore for a large supply. 1
have received so much-benefit; in using, the IN

Mr. Wm. Wright ear Sir you will please to
forward as soon as possible, some of your fhdian
Vegetable Pills; as w'e arc almost out of the arti

here. We have a great call for the medicine a:
present, and those mat have used them, speak very
high of them. One gentleman attributes his boins
cuked of Dropsy to the use of them; and another
has betn cured of Dvspepsia, solely by the use of
your Indian Vegetable Pills, and is willing you
should publish his case if you think proper.

Doctor Wright Dear Sir Having some knowl

I take this method to open a correspondence with

I am pleased to find they are such ready sale.
Those who have used them, speak in the highest

of the same.

than a hundred miles from here, for ten dozen; but
these will last but a very short time, the way we
