Attest : G. B, BLARED, Clerk.
Cotaluisiiollers' dale* thultiatY/* iB77*
We the undersigned Auaitors in and for.; the county of Susquehanna. met, in pursuance of
our duties, at the'A,uditors? Office in Montrose, on Tuesday, the 2d day-of-January, A. D., 1877,
and did audit and adjust and settle the several accounts of the Commissioners and Treasuret of
said county - as follows, viz: We - find, upon a thorough examination, in the hands of Henry C.
Tyler, Esq., county Treastirer,l'en Thousand One Hundred and Thirty-Eight Dollars and Fifty.
Seven Cents ($10,138.57) count?, balance ; and upon a thorough investigation of the Commission.
ers' accounts, we are satisfied that our present board of : Commissioners are making every effort
in their power to reduce the expenditures of the county. We find that fordistributing the elec.
tion papers, Assessors duplicates and papers,and theregistry books and papers fer the year 1872
Cost the county $646, while in the year 1876, for distributing .the same, cost the County $197.50;
and notwithstanding the aboVe encouraging facts, we find that many of the a Aasessors of the
pounty are charging exorbitant, prices for making the assessments; and especially , the borough of
Montrose. We find aim) that thq charges fbr county advertising are exorbitant for the times,
and would' suggest to our Conimissioners that they use every means in their power to reduce the
same. And while we find the present board of Commissioners have made a large reduction in
, the salary of their clerk we would recomanend.a still further reduction if practicable.
