Found the Cheese and Butter factory quite a
building of three apartments, yes, four depart
ments illustrative of the American cheesn'and
creamery 'system. Two spacious,-rooms were
literally • filled with excellent' looking cheeses
but,alas I the doors were closed and the Judges
were earnestly engaged In trying and.,*ting,as

of such masses of good-to-eat mateiial as those

The butter had been'rerrioved, lint in one
apartment we, found a patent_ butter worker
performing its allotted task before the admiring

it would be "strong" enough to go atone.
Numerom• pans were displayed for the dairy
on new. and impro ved : plans for the lightening
of labor which we should fancy on - a trial. But
the churns #iisplayed, touched our fancy most.
One reminded ine of a ba b y's , cradle fifew . once
in Brooklyn city, which, when set in motion by

bells have been purchased by an association in
Wilkes Barre, hence we will not be presump

Speaking of a shower, reminds 'us that' we
saw the veritable water-proof life-saving dress
which Captain Paul Boyton wore in-his exper
iment_of swimming across the English Chan
nel in 1875, and as a superior Lite Preserver, it
has been adopted by' the RS. Government for
the Navy, and for Coast Guard service. It was
an unique looking garment with boots, hat, !
gloves, vast and trousers, all joined together in
to one orthent of India rubber.

• We also saw a fine exhibit of California fruit

bunches of grapes, (of course not' as large
as the spies of Joshua carried betlieen them
from the PromiSe Land;) each of a number of
which wou:d exceed three and one-half pounds
in weight, and quinces. and pears of unusual'
size and beauty. California also had` an exhi
'bition:Of orange honey, that is, //COM made
from orange blossoms, but it did not look any .
better than 'that :which our bees make from
strawberries and•white clover. And then there
was .the veritable "(lld Abe'!i*ar, eagle who
was w ith his regiment in - twenty-five battles
and gained a victory ',every ile looked
venerable enough to be called grand:pal .
