Our Women.
What is the theme that now I sing,
With rattling bonessand banio's ring,
While tamborine aloft I fling,?
Who they that,in our homes of ease •
ttneertain, coy, and hard to please, \ '-
Through life's tight , places men do sq eeze 4,\
Our lomen 1 •

Who smile when favorite china breaks ?
Who ta k e the topmost buckwheat cakes ?
-Who'n 4 urse thf? baby when it wakes t,
Our Women 1
Who drop the needle for the pen,
And make the echoes ring again, •
To wake those stupid things, the men ?
• Our Women 1
Who kindled the Centennial flame
In distant States, where, dull and tame,
The men forgeti their country's fame ?
Our Women I
Who, when the men in blank dismay,
Bat wondering if the thing would i pay,
Pulled ba ck their skirts and l j ed the way ?
• ' Our Women 1
Who
woke
old Independece hall, t
And wokithe councils, one and ali,
With sixty-thousimd-power call ?
Our Women P .
Who, when Centennial stock ,bras low,
Did bravely take their books and go,
And begged,a share from every bean ?
Our Women !
Who leaye the cradle and the tub ?
Who coax papa and wheedle hub, -
Unheeding jest'and gibe and snub ?
Our Women !
Who worked all day and talked all night,
To build their house, and put to flight
The fools who sneer at Women's Right ?
Who waked the days of Washington ;
Contitivipg tete and fair , and fun,.
While Polly put the kettle on ?
Our W men
Who, in the loveliest arrklr,
Wnen 'neat!' the burden bowed the strong,
Still cheered the faint with buoyant song ?
