Whereas the Rev. A. N. Raven
has deemed it advisable to tender
his resignation as pastor of the
Westminster Presbyterian Church
of Miflliutown. Pa., that he may
accept a call to the Taylor Church
of Seattle, Washington, and
whereas it liecomes us to take ac
tion on the same both with refer
ence to the congrepation and with
reference to the Presbytery of
Huntingdon in our recommenda
tion thereto, therefore be it resolv
ed: That, although we sorely regret
his leaving us whom he has served
ably and zealously, yet in consid
eration of the fact that he has been
called to a larger field of useful
ness, we feel it our duty to release
him from his labors here, accept
his resignation and unite with him
in asking the Presbytery to dis
solve the pastoral relation now ex
isting 1 iet ween himself and the
Westminster church.
Resolved, further that we rec
commend him to the people of
Seattle in general and to the church
he is to serve in particular as a
courteous gentleman, an able
preacher ami a faithful pastor,
whose ministrations in the gospel
among our people have lieen high
ly instructive and Iienefiuial.
Resolved, that in giving up our
pastor to the people of Seattle, we
can assure them of his zeal and fi
delity and heartily express the le
lief that if they give him proper
support and encouragement their
church will le greatly prospered.
