Cleaning Marble-
It is often the case tbat handsome
marble becomes almost hopekssly
soiled acd sta.i.e t, and there is a de
mand for a simple, practical recipa
for restorieg it. The following from
nn excellent authority is highiy com-
mocded: lake tq-ial parts of" oxgall
powdfrod 8oa and pipe clay, and and
a little turpentine. Apply a coating
to the marb!, and when t h.orougMy
dry rub it off and wash with warm,
soft water. This will c eanso wit'a
ont destroying the polish. If tbo
marble is badly (.taiued, a second ap
plication may be necessary.
