Mrs- Christy, wife of John Christy,
deceased, died at the home of her
soa-in law WUiam D. fiisher at Le
gansport, Insane, on the 19th day of
November 18S5, aged 78 years. A
generation ago, John Christy and
family lived on and owned the farm
that Samuel Thomas owns and Uvea
on at the present time.

On 'the 17th nit, while George
EL'Heinbacb, a young man and only
son of Cbarlea B. Heinbaeb, was re
turning to his borne, about 4 miles
northeast of Blein, from Kiatter, Par
ry county, the colt which he was
driving in a cart became unmanage
able and he was thrown out back
ward. His skull waa fractured, -resulting
in his death in about two

Through the burning of the Cen
tral Hotel at Altoona recently, Harry
Patterson formerly of this place, but
now veterinary surgeon in that city
aad Frank. Meloy formerly of Juni
ata county, bat now of that place,
sustained losses. Patterson estimates
his loss at a couple of hundred dol
lors, his veterinary instruments be
ing lost Meloy's loss amounts to
about $500..
' William Wagner of Port Boyal, ag
ed about 55 rears, night watchman
along the slip rock, oa ths . railroad
between Port Royal and Mexico, was
discovered lying dead by the engi
neer of Mail and Express on the ev.
ening of the 26th of December. He
bad been knocked off the track and
killed by some unknown train. He
had been in the service of the rail
road company 30 years.
Some nights ago doga chssed a
flock of shsep owned by ex-Commissioner
France Hower, and killed a
sheep and wOnld have killed no one
knows how many, if they had not
been disturbed. After the dogs were
driven away Mr. Hower aet several
fox traps around the premises and
tbe next morning found a dogcaugbt
ia one of the tiaps. That dog will
never kill another sheep.
Tbe pension information imparted
to this office on the issue of the 25th
of December, nit, that a pension bad
beea granted to D. Kinelf wJ McAluv
terville, was only pertly correct. Mt.
Kinch has beea receiving a pension
th a past 12earaT for gun-shot wound
ia right hip, which rendered bun in
capable of manual labor. Ju bad
been receiving dollars a ssontn
pension, bnt on December 5,1895, it
was reduced from eight to six dol
lars a month. Should Cleveland be
re elected, how the pensions would
be reduced.
