Under such a tariff reduc tion wages through the country will be reduced 30 to 50 per cent, and to make up the loss of revenue by tariff reduction they will have to tax some thing else. Perhaps they will re model the pension list. Perhaps they will impose new taxes on whisky, tobacco incomes and so forth to make up for tariff reduction. It would not however take with the American peoplo to strike off the tax or tariff on foreign goods and load it on to American goods.
