Five valuable horses were stolen from a freight car on the Baltimore Ohio Railroad iu Wilmington on the aftaruoon of the 5th of October. The train of which this car-load of horses formed a psrt had stopped on one of the sidings just outside the city when a mm appeared w ho seem ed to have rode on the traiu. Ha approached the conductor, and in a conlid-nt manner requested him to unlock tho car, sayiug that several of h s horses were sick, and he want ed to see how they wero getting aloag, and possibly to get a veterin ary surgeon to look at thorn. He asked him how long the car would remain here, and made all prepara tions for getting them out of the car if he should find it ueo-si-arv. The conductor unlocked the car door and went away. The thief then had his opj.ortunity. He took five of th b;st horses, two iron grays and three light bays, from the car and snapped the door lock. Procur ing a wagon and harness, he hitched up one horse, and fastening the oth ers to the back of his team, drove away. Ho was been leaving the city over the Philadelphia pike at about five o'clock this afternoon. The loss of the horses was not. dis covered until the car reached Chest r, Pa. Exchange.
