testified to disbelief in their truth
fulness. One witness testified as to
the character of the woman w ho pro
fessed to have seen Thomas and Mrs.
Cleck in the spring house, that he
met the witness in the cow stable of
the Thomas barn and there sque z
ed her and felt her leg. The
defense produced witne.-ses to show
that the estrangement that drove
Cleck from Lis home and from Lis
family lay not in the conduct of
Thomas, but Lad their foundation in
the financial misfortunes that bank
rupted Cleck and crmpeiled Mr.i,
Cleck to secure the title of the farm
and all other property of their 's in
her name to uia what she Lad ol
tained from her father's estate. Ev
en then she was the loser by many

business operations. The promi
nence of the parties and their con
nections constantly kept a large aud

on Saturday morning, and the jury
