his own district.
The conference adjourned to meet in nar
risburg on Gctober 2nd.
It will be seen that Dr. Atkinson's
cbences for a re-nomination are promising
as he he started out in the conference in
the lead and retained it through tbe con.
ference. A most startling incident occur
ed ot the close of the conference about lh
80 P. M., by Dr. John Dufh-lii, conferee
lrom Fulton county dropping dead. The
doctor had been ailing trout rheumatism in
tbe hip, and it is believed the sudden trans
fer ot the rheumatism from the bip to the
heart that took his lite.

the Miller hotel as L. Houghton and Wtu.

Ritter until Wednesday morning, when they
hired a team from Liveryman J. M. Smith,
for a day 's drive, attending to their business
which they ssid was selling Warner's Sale
Cure. At tue end ol the day tbe men failed
to rt-iurn, but sent a postal from Port Royal
that the drive was too loug tor one dav and
they would teturn on Thursday. Thursday
