This from the Lewistown Sentinel
of last week : Jiaeob Rittenhouse and
F. McCoy were in the mountains last
week looking after their young cattle.
They came across a large rattle snake
which they soon dispatched. Mr. R.
tuinkmg the snake wss dead was
about to take off the rattles when it
threw back its head, striking him on
th band. Luckily for him, its head
was so badly smashed that it could
not sink its fangs into his hand, so
Jacob got off nnhnrt, but badly
frightened.
Lewistown people are happy over the
prospects of a "Dew round bouse and new
railroad shops." Why are they happy
over that t because it will employ men wboie
want must be supplied by the business of
the town and by tbe farms that surround
Lewistown, and that 1 the best answer
lewistow n people can give to the free trade
tendencies of the Democracy. Where ever
an industrial establishment is put up it
creates a demand for everything that is
raisea by tnr i -inner, ana in mat way is a
direct help to tbe sgriculturalist and that
is the reason that protection to industrial
establishment become a benefit.
One of th panks of th National Demo

The. RepMbllcam Problem.
The problem before tbe Republicans of
the country in making their Presidential
