The editor or the Tribune have the plas
ter nearly drawn over their mouth. If they
will cover the whole of it for the period or
a year, on probation, people will begin to
believe that they have reformed and are on

Miss Betty Stoufler fell down a stairway
in her house several nighty ago, and lay
at the foot of the stairway, till her house

artially recovered from the effects of the
fall. Miss Stouffer lives at Cedar Springs,

Huntingdon Presbytery met at Philips

man. There is no party lash to whip him
into opposition to a protective ytera of
lawa, no whip to lah him into legislation
gainst a sound enrrency, and no caucus
order to call a halt in the advocacy of a

The Cleveland and Hendricks Club placed
their banner on the outer wall last Saturday.

Mr. Steinmgar, a citizen of Fermanagh
township, waa in town last Thursday and
related to hi friend a number offish-catching
and deer-shooting trne stories, that
casts the common dime novel tales in the
shade. The interesting part of Steininger'
stories is that the scene of hi exploit
are along the streams and in the woods of
Pennsylvania.
Farmer iu Kishacoqmlla Valley, Mifflin
county aay that the Seaboard Pennsylvania
and Western Kailrod company when tbey
asked for the right of way promised that
work should be begun at once and that the
enterprise should be hurried to a state of
completion, tbey declare that the promise
bas been violated aud that breaks the con
tract, and therefore tba right ol way is void.
Mrs. George Swoope, of Huntingdon, re
cently made twenty-one tumblers of quince
jelly, which she placed on the porch and
covered with a newspaper. About the
middle ot the atternoon she noticed that
the jelly w as covered by swarms of bees.
In the evening she was completely aston
ished to discover that all but one of the
glasses had been completely emptied of the
contents.
From the Sunbury Democrat we learn
that Mr. John Saukey was recently tried iu
the Noith'd county court for prevailing on
a certain witness to remain away from court,
was found guilty and sentenced to pay a
fine of $i!3 and serve three mouths in jail.
The paper adds . "Mr. Sankey sobbed bit
terly as sentence was being Pronounced."
His attorney made a motion for a new trial,
but the court overruled it, and be ia now iu
jail.
Philip Killmer' horse cut a caper last
Wednesday, in Port Royal, by frightening
at a lot of boys that cauia along the
pavement. The beast broke the hitching
strap and ran a ray aud hung the biiKy on
a post at the corner of 3d and Middle streets
and kept on its career across the Tuscaro-
ra railroad street In idee and brought up in
the creek with a bounce, alter falling down
an embankment of 2J odd leet.

Rice, of Centre township, went out gunning
on Tuesday evening 1 tst, meeting with an
accident in the follow inj uianuer : He had
a breech loading gun, and the cartridge
failing to explode, he tried to remove it
with an awl. While doing this the cartridge
exploded, knocking the awl to pieces, tear
ing his pants au I m iking quite a wound in
his leg. Had it struck bun fairly it would
have torn his leg to pitrces, but it was a
glancing shot.

The Lewisburg Chronicle of last week

alarming extent in this county. It invaded
Kelly township, a short time ago,and some
farmers have lost every hog they owned.
The effect will be very bad, ror it will not
