The BloomBeld Advocate of last week say : The damages for the taking of the Millerstown bridge were fixed on Monday of thia week at $14,000. It has been known for aouie time that negotiations were in progress looking to an amicable settlement of tbe difficulty between the bridge coin pany and the county, but it was only last week that the matter was fixed. Though me settlement sas thus made it took the verdict of a jury to render tbe settlement legal, as the County authorities have no power to raise tbe damages fixed by the viewers, or lower them. The suit was tried in a formal manner on Monday afternoon. and tbe bridge contractors Messrs. Shreffler, Sger, Stouffer and Keuu, fixed the value at f rom $15,000 to $17,000, but by agree ment as previously announced, the verdict was taken at $14,000 as above stated.
