Vjf Dar .Vr. Editor : 1 guess al
most everybody, ou Saturday eveuings
like this, in the lifeiul, loveful, ttiCtry

1 confess to it, 1 do. W ben I was
juuug 1 could step around to See the
yutsi.g ladies, and spark as well as the

Vrs. Sftak, she said :
For vour love must lie,
As near and as nigh.
Unto my heart within,
A a niiiifc eye to my uoae,
Mv leg unto my bote,
Aud my flesh uuto my skin."
And that settled the business, for her
word, like tie ord tf Old Hickory's
wife, is law ; so the next best thing for
u to do wbeu 1 get a little restive on
Saturday night, ia to go down to the
Seven Stars.
Some of tbe lights of this starry re

rather a mixed dose of information.
We were told that the crack of the
whip of the brigadiers in Congress
isn't n.usic to tbe ears of many of
be rack and file of tbe Jackson
Democracy. They feel just like Old
Hickory felt when a little caucus of
j.iople from the brigadier country
tried to force him into line. He said,
"Uy the Eternal, tbe Democracy dn't
lo'.iewe in nullification," You know by
tw.ta when that was. It was in
1S32, whtu Congress passed a tariff, or
t.ew protection bill. That bill set lbs

for I am with thee," Isa. 41 : 10, after which
the cost and remaining indebtedness of the
house were stated to tbe congregation, sub
scriptions received and collections takeu up
with good results, all things considered,
the good friends did very well, leaving but
a small portion of the debt nn provided for,
which was then guaranteed by a few of the
brethren, in order to enable the house to be
dedicated, which was accordingly done,
with inipresMve ceremonies, ss the Wkilt

In order to cSuct a more thorough organ

Hail Queen of May ! most glorious month
Of all the changing year,
Moat beautiful, and fair, and bright,
I would thou wert always here.
So young, so fair to look upon
Of youth a type thou art
If only purity was half so great
In every human heart.
The sleeping flowers at thy anprcseh
Wake from their reverie, quite
Where they've been lying, dreaming on.
All the long wintry night J
Of j.yous Spring, of breezes soft,
Or golden suubeams, sparkling, bright.
At thy first advent they spring forth,
To find dreams real, to their delight.
The blossoms, oh so fair and sweet,
. Thou briogeat now with profuse baud,
Till all the earth so fair is decked,
We can't but think of fairy land.
Thou bringest fertb the dew-lipped Spring,
And Zephyr's balmy breeze,
Alt nature hails thee, earth and air,
The birds, aud blos'iniug trees.
Thou makest the meadows a velvet green.
The sky of April, too,
Tbou chaugest ; and from hue so mild,
Tbou sendest deeper blue.
Are )e downcast, oh Sons of Earth f
Does life a burden seem f
Go forth then oa a morn in May,
When golden suubeams gleam.
To kiss the dowers, to cheer all earth.
And jy and comfort give ;
Stop, listen, does not all nature say,
Cbeer up. sal heart, and lira I
The whole broad earth with music rings,
'Tis echoed through tbe air,
From flowery dell to mountain top,
To drive away dull care.
And can we not a lesson learn.
From this, the month of May t
What fitter type of life is there,
Than blossoms that bloom to-day I
Tbey bud, tbey bloom, so pure and white,
But a brief period live ;
Vet all their lite w iih one great aim,
Is spent, 'lis joy to give.
And then they lade, and fall, aud die,
Is ucw their history past ?
Ah, no ; a glorious germ is left,
SICst glorious is this last.
For after Sorters the fruit appears
All rich, a:.d ripe arid rare.
If but tbe deeds we leate behind
Were only half so fair. "V
Ob may we like tbe blossoms white
Be pure; have noble hearts,
Then though tbe storms of life may come,
We'll still act well our parts.
And when we close our eyes in death
When like the blossoms, fade,
We leave behind the thocghts and deeds
The work of a life time made.
Oh May ! thou airy, fairy May,
Thou whom we love so well.
We've hailed thy coming as tbou tripped
Through woods and flowery dell.
B'Jt now we sigh for thdo, dear one,
For soon thi.u'lt pass away ;
Tbe fairest mouth of all the year
Is May, oh lovely May.

I know two eyes, two soft brown eyes,
Two eyes as sweet and dear
As ever danced with gay surprise,
Or melted with a tear ;
la wl,ose fair rays a heart may bask
Their shadowed rays serene
But, little maid, you must not ask
Whose gentle eyes I mean.

I know a voice of fairy tone,
Like brooklets in the June,
That sings to please itself alone,
A little old-worie tune
Whose music hacuts the listener's ear,
And will not leave It free ;
But I shall never t-1! yon, dear;
W hose accents ihcy rasy be-
I know a golden-bearte! maid
For whom I built a shrine,
A leafy nook of murmuring shade.
Deep in this heart of luii.e ;
And in that calm and cool recess
To make her borne she came
But, oh ! you'd never, never guess
That little maiden's name.
