When the small-pox raged mot in Hunt ingdon, the town council of that place pawed an ordinance prohibiting the holding of public meetings, by whichchurcbes,and all other places for meeting, were closed. The evidence for the plaintiff went to show that she had received from her father $2700, in variona ways and t different times, which ahe bad given to , her husband as a loan. De- I fendants attempted to prove that she could not have received so much, a that would be more than her just proportion of her fath r's estate, and contended that interest ahould net be allowed, and that if it wa added to enhance the judgment, and thereby binder and delay otber creditor, th whole judg ment would be fraudulent and void. The trial occupied the greater part of three days, and at 12 ., Saturday night, or rather Sab bath morning, tbe jury rendered a verdict foi plaintiff for $2700. Walton' business, it seems, aaa to put thia money in circulation, and he aiiccessfully passed a quantity of these notes upon tradesmen and other in various parts of the country. In Media, one day in December last, it will be remembered, he passed several notes of this bank, which were not discovered until he left town. Word was telegraphed to tbe officer at West Chester, where Walton waa supposed to be, but be kept himself shady, and finally slipped off. But the United States Secret Service officer got on hi track, aud followed bim with that p.tience and diligence for which they aie proverbial, and on the 2d insU they caught him at the German town junction depot in Philadelphia.
