Last Thursday, Friday and Saturday even ings were devoted by number of our siortsuicn to dog shooting. It was a specie or sport that is not often indulged in, and was brought about by a combination on the part or seme twenty dfgs meeting every evening and raiding on cattle and hogs in the fields adjacent to town. Cattle belong ing to Jonathan Kaufiman had been repeat edly attacked by the vicious dogs, and sev eral or them injured. Hogs owned by Wil son Robinson bad been greatly abused, as well as s lock belonging to others. There wa no remedy but to ge gunning for the dogs, which was heartily done by sportsmen, when called on by the men who had suffered in the loss of their stoclt from the attack or the dogs. If the reader ha missed a dog within the past week, it is likely that the animal ha fallen a victim to a sportsman's shot for being in bad company, or worrying ome neighbor' bogs' of cattle. They had failed to comply with an act of the Legislature passed April 24, 1874, which requires the Auditors of the various townships and boroughs of the Stae to publish an annual slate -meet of the Road Commissioners, Su pervisors, Overseen of the Poor, and School Directors, and to designate a day on which to audit the borough and township accounts. In case of 4 fail ure to comply, any tax-payer of the township or borough may institute pro ceedings against the Auditors in the name of the School Directors, and the penalty is fixed at twenty dollars and costs."
