Harrisburg papers speak highly of

company. Tbe drama of the " Litte
Charily Orphan" is said to be cost ef
fecting. Harribbnr peope see a good
dea of "pay," and what they eLdors3
as charming may be accepted by our
community without fcr of disappoint
ment. A public examination of the Mifflin
Free Schools will bo held cn Monday
and Tuesday, 23d and 24th iust. Di
rectors, parents, and all who feel an
interest in our schools, are invited to
attend. Acy visitor wishing to exam
ine in any or all of tbe branches, will
be at liberty to do so, otherwise tbe
examinations will be conducted by tbe
teashers of the respective schools.
Tbe digging for coal near Blue Spring,
Turbett township, has been abandoned.
So it is said here. It is not possible to
gather chestnuts from oak trees. They
do not grow tbere. It is not possible
to find coal in a formation where it does
not belong. Geological teaching must
b wrong if coal exists in the forma
tion of any of tbe valleys of Juniata
county. Tbere is a bare possibility
that it may be iound in the table lands
of Shade Mountain.

Wilder Mc ahax heads a party
lumbering northeast of town in Shade
Mountain. In their quarters during
the late cold weather they httng a quar
tet of fresh beef. It was there bet a
night or two when something com
menced to eat holes in it at night and
when tbey were out. Knowing by tbe
work on tbe meat, that tbe animal
could not be large, they made a box
trap to catch it. On Wednesday night
tbe trap was set, and on Thursday
morning when they examined it, tbey
found it occupied by a weasel as white
as tbe whitest snow. Hollobaugb has
tbtt cariosity now at hi saloon.

now forming by the Legislature will re

of M. V. Paulson, by accident, by
falling from Cincinnati Express, east
ward bound, on the night of the 7th

photographs on the deceased man's per
son induced citizens of Patterson to
write letters of inquiry to Sheboygan,
Wis. On last Saturday Mr. Henry

body might be raised for tbe pur
lose of identification. On Monday the
body of tbe unfortunate stranger was
raised from the grave, and imaiediatcy
identified as that of M. V. J'auson,
brother-in-aw of Henry Aggms, of
Sheboygan, is. Tbe remains were
re-interred in tbe Cemetery, where first
buried. Mr. Aggius stated that Paul
son was on bis return to Germany,
wheuce he had originally come. All
unpaid bills incurred by tbe authorities
in the burial of Mr. Panson were paid
by Mr. Aggius. He eft for his home
in Wisconsin on Tuesday moruing.
