Superintendent Laird, who now bas

ly reports to the Koard, hastily written
as they are, and w.thont any attempt at

and afford the clearest exhibits ol the
actual condition and progress of our
public schools, as well as of the leading
principles to be kept iu mind, that we
have ever had. The Commissioners
really owe it to Mr. Laird, to them
selves and to the public to have the
reports published monthly. They are
altogether the most readable of all our
citv documents. Mr. Laird himself is
unfortunately so modest that he de
clines to furnish bis reports for publi

city on Saturday we obtained and ijive
below his report presented to the Board
last Friday evening. We commend it
to the perusal of ont readers.
