TILE ERIE RAILWAY TO COME TO
CITY.—The Fredonia Censor recalls"‘ltteri
lion to the fact that "in the Procurement of a
charter through Pennsylvania the Atlantic
and Great Western Railroad agreed to run a
branch to Eric within a s certain time, which
expires next year, with a forfeiture for fail
nre of #500,000. The road was originally laid
to Eric, and some irtapop were expended on
it iu grading westerly from Ashville towards
Findley's Lake in Mina. The road, having'
been diverted through Pennsylvania, that
portion of the road wa3 abandoned. IA rut
fllinbnl: of Ilid obligation to make a conneo
lion to Erie, we understand, this abandoned
route presents a very feasible plan, and makes
a connection . with the Cross Cut at Sher , !
Man. The summit is,reached by, this route,
about if; milt% from Erie, and 20 from
Ashville, making the distance from Erie to
Ashville as, and the maximum grade is' 40
feet less per gale than on the Philadelphia
and Erie. This route, we understand, brings'
Erie 24 miles nearer New York than via-the
P. S E., and seventeen miles nearer than
via•Dunki;k ?" The Censor learns that there
is,a probability that this Connection will tv
made and thos secure to Erie an advantage
which the city ought to have had a long
time ago.
