Our county jail is so deficient in security
that the keeper is compelled to exercise the
most vigilant 'care to keep his boarders from
escaping; Hardly a week occurs that some
one of the worst characters. does not attempt
to get out. About the time they think them
selves most snugly fixed for escaping, they
