The Philadelphia & Erie , Railroad, •nce it
was placed under the management r Super
intendent Tyler, has improved to a snderful
extent. Its trains run with as much egulazity
as any road in the State. its einp ogees are
generally polite and obliging, its passenger
coachei are (qual to the best, and its accom
modations are d,sily being increased. The
eatins., houses on the lino of this road surpass
those of any thro egh route from the Lakes to
the seaboard. The road is rapidly reviving
from the unpopularity it. obtained during the
control _of the former superintendent., and
bids fair to become a great favorite with the

The School Directors of our county will be

cording to the number of schools in the coun
ty. Mr. L. D Fisk, present Superintendent,

By the request of a number of his friends
here Dr. Barbour, the celebrated surgeon to
the Pittsburgh Eye and Ear Infirmary, will
visit Erie on the 2d of ?day, remaining at
Brown'q'hotel three days. His reputation for
the treatment of this particul-r kind of com—
plaints 'is too well know to require from as
any extended introduction of the Doctor to
