Franklin to Irvine. connecting with the Phil
adelphia & Erie at the latter point, is being
made. It follows the Allegheny river, sad

section to the Eastern markets. The compa

ville, says the •Clearfield Republican, " are

of Erie county announce, through our adver
tising columns, that the work will be ready
for delivery abut the 15th inst. If it re
sembles the specim•ne shown us, It will be a
publication of superior merit, and one that
should be in the hands of every intelligent
citizen. Wm. Lloyd Garrison, the noted
Abolition leader, delivered a lecture, by invi
tation Of the Y. M. C. Association, in the
Universalist church, on Friday evening, to an
audience of mutat-eta size. He is not a speak
er of very attractive qualities, and many of
his hearers were disappointed. The well
known fact that Mr. Garrison was as oat

he kept standing at the head of his paper up
