We understand that a poor familly in our
village was obliged, daring a recent Gold

from freezing. Azuktizwe'poor Toease;
who had entreated for a small load of greed

"Can such things be" in a cosiasunity do

faunas county neighbors The Censor's
statement confirms us in our long settled
opinion that "charity been. at home." and
that every neighborhood could have sufficient
to do if it only would attend to the - wants of
its own unfbitunste people, without concern
ing4tself about the faults of others. While
a lirge majority of the citizens of Fredonia
have been bewailing the oeudition of tha
slaved ingress, and going into hysterics over
the "barbarism" of the South, oases like the
above occur in their town, and hardly provoke
a comment on the part of the philanthropists
who shriek themselves hoarse over the "black
maw's sufferings !"
We would suggest to the managers of the
Philadelphia it. Erie railroad that they take
a trip risen, on setae early occasion, over that
thoroughfare. If the /comments on the man
agement of the road which they would hear
exp eased by the pasbengere wean not wake
them up to a realising . .sense of what •fluty

ence could - be brought to bear that would.
As au early and c insistent friend of the road,
it le with the utmost mortification we witness
its buoreasino unpopularity among all classes
in this part of the State, and our sole object
in calling attention to toe fact is the hope ye
entertain that by so doing the manner of its
management may become known to the gen
tlemen at Pailadelphipt wits have powtir to
effect a change, and who probably only ru
quire to be iltformed en the subject to do so.
Unless something for the r better is done soon,
the road will become a by-word of ridicule ell
the lips of everybody. '._.
