music loving citizens hire been in a great

(leads evening, We well remember what,
a pleasing seusition the wonderful Pian
ist created last year, and now that be has
arrived again, we know bow. to appreciate
him. Wherever he has appeared he has met
with the most marked success, and people
have Socked to see and hear him in crowds,
and we are sure he will not have arty cause to
regret this, his second visit to our city. But
the greet pianist does cot come alone—he
brings with him s host of talent, which, as
vocalists, have no equal in this country.
Gottschalk is so well kstown in this commu
nity, and his musical genius so much ad
mired, that a word in his praise is not uses
4,ry. Signor Brignoll, the handsome silvery
voiced tenor, makes his first bow before an
Erie 'indigoes this evening, and sings several
of his most admired pieces, itiolading a grand
serenade composed expressly for him by Mr.
Gottschalk. Miss Cordial., report
speaks truly, captilates and sets half crazy

face, is also tor . appeor. The Eastern papers
speak in the highest praise of her, both as an
actress and singer, besides which we are as
sured she is very handsome, Which last, lie
doubt, our citizens will judge for themselves.
Then last, but not least, we are to hear the
young and talented violinist, Senor Carlo
Patti, (brother to Adeline, and carious.)
Carlotta was-here last year with Mr. Gotta
chalk, and now she is creating quite am ex
citement in Europe. Senor Patti is said to
be the best violinist 6 in this countrs. Au ex
change 3 speaking of the young violinist, sass:
" After hearing Patti, you can hear none bet
ter-4e is to the violin whit Gottschalk is to
the piano." The concert is to be under the
musical direction of The distinguietted pianist,
S. Behrens. Of course we shall see • large
and' fashionable audience in attendance, for it
is very seldom our citizens have the pleasure
of hearing such musical celebrities, whose re
putation is world wide. ' We see the sale of
tickets is going off very rapidly at Ensign's

A LABOR FRE/OaT DaPOT.-• TO siecommo
date the business of 1.4 Philadelphia and
Erie Railroad,. the Prinsylvania Railroad
Company are now engaged in erecting a large
freight depot at Sixteenth and Market. The
building will front on Market street and have
handsome iron ooluinhs along the building,
its breadth being 21. i, feet. The length will
be 306 feet, extending back to Filbert street
There are to be two elevations, 25 feet high,
with sky-lights at the sides. Six gracile will
enter the depot Croke up and down Market.

eral impression that Congress will change the

Councils, the two additional policemen were
not appointed on Monday evening list. There
appears to be a disposition to stop with .the
outlier already selected, but we trust that now
we have got so far along, a sufficient number
