Mouse hitasraiLs.—Thii popular troupe
will giiis a Covert at Wayne I Hall, on Satur
day swatting, the 12th inst. Our exchanges,
wherever they have performed, 'speak - in high
tams of their merits,, and cordially recommend
them to the patronage of the public. One of
them, the Davenport (Iowa) DemOrrat, says:
"Morris! Minitrels were greeted at the Me.:
lodoon Hall, yesterday evening, with a good
house. We were highly pleased with the en
tertahunest, which was tar above the average.
The sadism* frequently manifested the moat
unequivocal signs of &prove!. There wee*
quitosaniabarofladies present. There au none
of that y which_ characterizes the per

lave no hesitation in going to "Morris' Min
streleVe advise 'all who desire to attend

to the Melodeon this evening."
Conn CONVIDITION.—it is scarcely neces
sary, we presume, to dell the attention of the
Denaxtrets throughout the county, to the fact
that thi elections for delegates to the County
Causation, occur on Saturday, the 12th inst.
The Chairman of the County Committee has
left the time and places of meeting to the
Demociati of the various townships, boroughs
and wards, feeling satisfied that they can ami
cably agree upon the miner, and arrange it
to suit the general convenience much better
thin he contd. Hereafter, we hope to see
some definite action taken on this subject, and
the thileaad places permanently fixed, so that
they will be known by ill, in the different die
icicle, who are interested.
We urge upon our friends to send full del.-
gstioas, composed or their hest men. We
,want to see'llie Convention not only a fair
ripresentative of the Democra4 of Erie coun
t-bin point of number., but, of intelligence
and earnestness also. The Opposition ire so
connumtly in the hibii of asserting that'their
party comprises nearly all the respectability
and intellect of the country, that we ire aux
ions to giveithe public nchance to decidi upon
tie question, by compiling Ibis two Conven

A 'Csati.—Having entered upon the dis

the attention of Directors, Teachers and Pa
rents to the state Normal School, located at
Edenhoro, in this County. It is a State in
stitution—founded, supported and conducted
on purpose to train Teachers in all that per
tains to, the instruction and discipline of the
children of. our Schools. We' have not yet
done much to help to sustain it, nor have we
received much benefit from it.. The fault is
our own'. Each Board' of Directors is the
County has the privilege of sending one pupil
to,this School. . This privilege the law gives
you, in• addition to which, the Principal of
the School offers free tuition, as a prize, to
the beet Teacher in the District. It seems to
the these inducements ought to stimulate us
to make an effort in this direction. Without
better Teachers, we cannot, hope to have bet
ter Schools. Our Teachers must have more
culture and more training,- The leading
agency to be relied upon to improve the
Teacher must be found in our ""Normal
School" and in the , kfliatrici Inalassie." They
hay, not ?calved that attention which their
importance demands. It is impossible to es
timate the real value of such agencies. Will
ottr many excellent Diretitors think upon this
subject, and select Bowe worthy person, from
each District in the Denny to native in
itructicur at the Normal School f By so
doing, you will show that ybiz hive a desire
to improve your Schools. Let us give to our
Normal School all the pupils they can edu
cate. Thus may we expect to raise the stand
ard of . our Compton Schools up'. up to what it
should ne. Let us give this institution our
earnest support. 1 / 4 D. P. Easton.
