which was well attended. A westing was held,
and Oliver Dunn elected President. The Dec•'

Henry Dunn, and an address delivered by
James 8111, Esq.. The latter, though strongly
anti-slavery, took rather fair grotuid upon the
important political issues of the day. It in
dulged in no abusive language, and on the
whole, was far more temperate and argumen

essay of the "blood and-thunder" and"whang
doodle" style. Daring its progress, most of
the audience dispersed, and the "orator," find
ing himself nearly deserted, finally concluded
to "dry-up." The remaining exercises of itse
day passed off pleasantly.
At Belle Valley, 8, EL- Spencer, Esq., one of
our moat talented lawyers, delivered an ad
dress to an intelligent and orderly audience.
We base heard hit. Spencer's address spoken
ut in a very complimentary Fauna, and do
not doubt that it was all that his' friends rep
resent it. Of one thing we feel sainted, that
it was high-toned, earnestly patriotic, and
free from partisan bias., Mr. Spencer is a
man of too much good sense to force his own
political doctrines into the ears of en audience
comp led of people of ill party names, and
gathered for the purpose of listening to some
thing else than the ordinary partizan discus
sions.
The celebration at Waterford was on quite
an extensive scale, but we have few particulars
in relation to it. The declaratiOn weaned by
Prof. Austin, and an address delivered by Rev.
Dr. Forrester. If the Doctor waif as eloquent

must have had a tine literary Crest,
In North Rut the Sabbath Schools united
in a celebration, which passed off in an agree
able manner. The address wu nude by Rev.
Mr. Osborn, pastor of the Methodist church
in this city.
These are all the daisonstratiens of which
we hove received any patio:due. We should
have been glad to notice all that were held In
the county, had we been furnished with an
account of them.
