and that one is Morrow B. Lowry. At least
we judge so, from reading the Legislative Rec
ord. About two-thirds of this document are

horrible condition for the put few weeks; and

remedy them. An ordinance should be puled,
and enforeecl, requiring them to be cleatiea at
least once it week. The crossings toe, are
generally in a filthy stale—scarcely better
than the streets. In the name of the public,•
we ask oar city officers to see to these matters.

by Messrs. Itawle& Tennant, will be brought

on Sabbath evening last, are said to have been
unusually interesting. The church was hand
somely decorated, and there was a crowded
audiertlce. Each class in the Sabbath School

singing by Walther and Mr. Idiller,and the

was a larger attendance.

know of in Erie county, are those who, like
the Gazette, continually tell the rebels that
there is a large party here who fiver their
cause, and who thus give them eneouragement

REnti. Petioscas.—Fire hundred rebel
prisoners passed through this city in a spe
cial train for the East, on Saturday afternoon
last. A considerable crowd gathered at the
depot io see them, and 13011/0 amusing cotter
intim.. took' plaoe. One•of our citizens asked
a rebel officer whether he didn't desire peace.
" tes, sir," he replied, " and it can easily be
had, if you only let .us alone." " Can't' see
it," was the response. The rebels, as a gen
eral thing, were rather roughly eta), and
many, of them looked very little like soldiers.
Their officers, however, were mostly finilook
ing men, sad intelligent in their conversation.
They all seemed to be firm in the belief that
