on Wednesday afternoon As this was our
first experience upon the Sunbury & Erie, we
were agreeably surprised at finding everything
in such extleVent condition. The track from
this city intion is ballasted as well as most
of our old roads: the rolling stock is in good
order , the culverts and bridges are substan
tially built—in short, nothing but a certain
and positive new look about the houses and ap
pointments at the stations, ;and :,he lack of
fences along the line, would indicate to atonal
ger the fact of its having
,been opened but a
few months. At Water.ord, the flretk, station
of consequence East of this city, the Company
have erected a very fine passenger and freight
house—the same in plan and general arrang •
ment as the one at the foot of State street in.
Erie, though somewhat reduced in size
It is related as illustrit ire of the energy which
characterises the builder of this station-house,'
Mr keen -tux, that the work was finished
ready for the os.,upancy by the Company in
the short space ut pee works from the date of
contract. Of the town of Waterford we are
wholly unprepared to express an opinion, as
its light is "set under a bushel,' ifrolit it red
road point of view.) and we hadn't audacity
to request the accommodating engineet to writ
long enough for 114 to run through the w 0044
and take a peeps All along the line improN e
[Dents are being made as fast as the circuit
stances of the Company will permit, such as
the building of wood sheds, water tanks, &e.
and this addition of side-tracks as they are de•
mantled by the necessities of business.
After a trip over the Sunbury & Erie Road,
it will not lie difficult to arrive at the conclu4
ion that the gentlemen connected with its Man.
agemeut are eminently fit for the positions
they mtcup and arc entitled to the liighe:d
praise for the mann. t in which they have (min
