air The Psi, lsc Record, quaking of the
Erie & Pittsburgh Railroad, end its necessity
to the development of the Western portion of
our Suite, says no road' in Pennsylvania was
built as substantial for an small an amount of
money. It is free from, high grades or short
curves, consequently can he run at less than
the ordinary cost of operation. The necessity
of extending the road isbvident to every stock
holder. It should receire encouragement from
every man to the extent, of their means along
the route. Every business man understands
the necessity of a railrold conneetion with the
commerce of the Ohio Valley, Pittsburgh, and
Philadelphia. The 'Erie and Pittsbuith road
presents the moat feasible route fur these ob
jects. It can be built for less money, can be
operated at less expense than any route pro
jected or in operation between Lake Erie and
the Ohio river The road will have to be built
by private enterprise, the unfortunate condi
tion of the counties through which the road
passes arising from their bond issues precludes
the possibility of any meant' from these sources.
But, the Erie and Pittsburgh road ron he built,
Its route passes through one of the finest dis
tricts in the State abounding in mineral re
sources as well as agrictultural wealth. Let a
determined effort be made along the route for
speedy completion.
