Mir At a scientific meeting in Edinburg,
4 crinoline dress has been exhibited, one
hall of which had been immersed in a sul
phate of ammonia, in-order tetest itsr non
combustibility. On a light having been
at .li ed to the crinoline, the pert oit which
had not been steeped in the solution ?was
at olive enveloped in flames, but the only
effect which the light had on the other
part was to char it. This was considered a
13.16 , -factory experiment and it wits stated
th.it as ammonia was only 2d per pound, it
was aet-es...ibl e to the humblest class. It
was stated that the crinoline used in the,
royal establishment was steeped in totallbs
different solution, but that itti•c(xit prevent
ed its general use, and that thecheaper .o
lotion was equally efficacious.
