U« S. 7-30 Loan.
TH« Secretary of (ho Truuaury gives notice that sub
scriptions will bo received for Coupon Treasury Notos,
payablo three years from Aug. 16th, 1804» with semi-an
nual interest at a rata of seven and three-tenths per
cent, per annum—principal and intereat both to be paid
» in lawful money.
These notes will be oonvertiblo at the option of the
holder at maturity, into six per cent, gold boor!ngtjonds,
payable not le*s than fivo nor nioro than twenty yearw
from their date, n» the Government may elect. Tltey
will be lH«uod in denominations of fSO, SIOO, SSOO, $1,009
and $5,000, and all subscriptions must be for fifty dollars
or aotue multiple of fifty dollars.
Tho notes will be transmitted to the owners free of
transportation charges ns soon after the receipt of the
original Certificate of Deposit as tliey can be prepared.
As the notes draw interest from August 15, persous
making deposits subsequent to that dato must pay the
interest accrued from date of note to dnte of doposit.
Parties depositing twenty-fivo thousand dollars and
upwards for these notes at any one time will he allowed
a commission of one-quarter of one per cent., which will
be paid by the Treasury Department upon the receipt of
a bill for the amount, certified by the officer with wjiorn
the deposit was made. No deductions fur couimlsaious
i, must be made from tho deposits.
Special Advantages of This Loan.
IT is A NATIONAL SAVINU* BAND, offering a higher rate
of intereat than any other, and the Lett tecurit*/. Any
saving* bank which pays its depositors iu U. S. Notes,
considers that it is paying in tho best circulating modiura
of the country, and it cannot pay in anything better, for
its own a>wots are either in government necurities or lu
notes or bonds payable iu geverniueut paper.
It is equally conveniet as a teui|>oritry or permanent
investment. The notes can always be sold for within a
fraction of their face and accumulated interest, and are
the best security with banks as collateral* for disounts.
Convertible into a Six per cent. 5-20 Gold Bond.
In addition to tho very liberal intercut on the notes for
three years, this privilege of conversion is now worth
[ about three per cent, per annum, for the current rate for
6-20 Bonds is not leas than • nine p*r cent, premium, and
beforo the war the premium iu six per cent. U. S. stocks
was over twenty per ceut. It will be seen that tho ac
tual profit on this loan, nt the present murkct rate, is not
Its Exemption from State or Municipal Taxation.
But aside from all the advantage* wo ha' o enumera
ted, a special Act of Congress exempt* all bonds and
I Treasury notes from lac-il taxation. On the average,
this exemption is worth übout two per cent, per annum,
occorditig to the rate of taxation in various parts of the
country.
It is believed that no Becuritiea offer no great induce
ments to lenders a* those fasued by the government.—
lu all other forms of indebteduess, tho laith or ability
of private parties, or stock companies, or separate com
munities, ouly, 1" pledged fsr payment, while the whole
property of the country is held to secure tho discharge
of all tho obligations of the United States.
While the government offers the most liberal terms
for it* loans, it believes that the very strongest appeal
will be the loyalty and patriotism of the people.
Drplieato certificates will be issued for all deposits.'—
The party depoalting must endorse upon the original
certificate the denomination of notes required, ami
whether they aro to be issued iu blank or payable to or
der. When so ondorsed it must be left witli tho officor
receiving the deposit, to bo forwarded to tho Treasury
Department.
Sniscii!l'TlONS WILL ns niciiVKn by the Treasurer o
the United States, at Washington, the several Assistant
Treasurers and designated Depositaries, and by tho
r«t jNiitlonul Dank of
Allegheny City, Pa. First, Second, and Third National
Banks of Pittsburgh, Pa., and by all National Bank*
which arc depositaries of public money, and
ALL RESPECTABLE BANKS AND BANKERS
throughout the country will giro further Information and
AFFORD EVERY FACILITY TO SUBSCRIBERS.
