A boa of Wesley Johnson, in Mad•
hien ownship, was terribly injured, one day
hid week, while attempting to ores 3, or
standing closely by the rod loading from the
horee-power to the threshing machine, w h en
all wore iu motion. His pantaloons catching
fast to a bolt in the rod, his body was caused
to make a number of revolutions, with much
rapidity, before the machinery could be
stopped, thus injuring one of his arias to
nob an extent that amputation WAS found
Reixaseary, and hurting the other so as
to never be of much service, besides terribly
bruising and mangling his whole body. The
above is as reported.

the bodies to give space for the erection of
a new church edifice, which it proposed to
be erected this year. The bodies of Jame.,
Evans and daughter, and Wro. 11. Evans,
were removed one day last week, throngh
the supervision of John T. Howe. Those
three bodies were taken up and re-interred
in one afternoon, by two or three persons,
and (mend to bo in a tolerably good state of
preservation, thus showing that it is not
suet a terrible job to remove these deal

air ON Sunday night last the Bloomsburg
Literary Institute ViLS entered, through one
of the front windows, by one or more per
sons, for what purpose it is difficult to de
termine. There was no damage done, and
no article stay. The discovery, of there
being some person in the building, was
made about 11 o'clock in the night; when
several persons came together and proceed
ed to the premises ; but were unable to End
any one, or that any mischief was done.
Their traces were visible. Ou leaving the
building they went through a window on
the North side of the house making the im
prints of their feet visible in the soft ground.
The object of this visit, may have been to
obtain keys. It is hoped the hands of the
law will soon get hold of these night prow
lers and pilferers.
Z THE Tunkhannnek .Dcmocrat says
that an attempt to burn the Court House
at that place, with all the records and ar
chives, was madeon Saturday night by some
miscreant in human shape. The villain had
made his arrangements for his infernal work
with great care and deliberation, by natter
ing the contents of a bottle of kerosene on
the hemp matting or carpet of the Hall on
the inside of the inside doors, after which
the match was applied. A portion of the
doer-sill and doer were found considerably
burned and charred. About two feet square
of the carpet was destroyed by the tire. By
an interposition which seems almost miracu
lous the fire thus kindled went out, saving
to the people of the county all their valu
able mooed:, and evidences of title. No
certain clue has yet hecn found to the per
petrator of this dastardly act.
