.The election in this town passed off
very orderly and quiet ; the Radicals get
ting what Paddy gave the drum, "a 11-1 of
a bating." They seem to bear their defeat
with comparatively little grumbling. So
they should. That's Democratic.

rip The Danville Ititdligencer inquires
whether a Democratic editor is giving aid
and comfort to the "enemy" who publishes
two ur three columns of a flaming advertise
ment for some indfpentient Abolition Jour

:slool Democratic editor of this county can
explain.
'aro IvE us NorteE.—Those of our sub

on the coming Ist of April, will oblige us
by sending us timely notice where they want
their papers directed. •Please state where
you move from as well as where you move to.

—_ Uao. W. Taxmaxt, of Bloomsburg,
has invented an improvement ond obtained
n patent on miner's lamps, which is said to
he of great benefit to those who use this
kind of lamp, He is now offering County
and State rights to any parties desirous of
making a handsome sum out of the inven

Upon examination of the lamp with the
improvement the good qualities of the in-
vention are readily perceived and admitted
to be practical and beneficial.

i Tue landlords of Columbia county
will try and have their petitions filed in the
office of the I'rothonotary by the let of
April. By attending to this matter in time,
may save a great deal of nnnecessaq an
noyance. It will be remembered, that the
law requires that the bondsmen also sign
the petition. This was not generally un
derstood when licenses were last granted in
this county, but it is hoped that there may
be no nfieetions or delays in granting licen
ses at the coming term, by this neglect.
We have neatly printed blanks for this pur
pose. Bonds and petitions for twenty-five
cents. Parties sending or writing to us,
can be furnished with the tieeesepry papers.

use. When once tried, its superiority freer every
other medicine of its kind is too apparent to escape
observation, and where its virtues are known, the
public no longer hesitate what antidote to employ
for the distreming and dangerous affections of the
pulmon..ry organs that are incident to our climate.
While many Inferior remedies thrust upon the
community have failed and been discarded, this
has gained friends by every trial, conferred benefits
on the afflicted they can never forget, and pro
duced cures too numerous and too remarkable to
be Ibrgotten.
