of this city have appointed a committee to
raise funds for the relief of the sufferers
by the wreck of the Central America, and
also for the reward of the rescuers. Thir

of syrnp made from the Chinese Sugar
Cauc,by Jubu S. Bright,of Sunbury. M r.
Bright extracted the juice from fire stalks
of the Cane, getiing about pint and a
half. This he boiled ht fifteen minutes
and obtained gill and half of syrup, of
a bright amber color, and of a taste more
agreeable than molasses. Ia our mind
this settles the feasibility of making sugar
