The case of Dred Scott, now being ar gued before the Supremo Court at Wash ington, involves the constitutionality of the Missouri Compromise mid the power of Congress to prohibit Slavery in u Territo ry, in the following; manner : Scott is tlio sun of a slave woman belonging to au I army olhcer, w ho moved with his lannly and slaves into the Territory, where, by the Mis-souri Compromise, Slavery wna prohibited. There Scott was boru, but was afterward carried Lack to Missouri, and is now held therein ru a slave, lie sues for his freedom, on the ground that he was born free, by virtue of the .Missouri Prohibition.
