tousc of Eliiabetk Morton, on Race street,
Lewisburg, was IroVeo opcu, last 1'riJay
evening, probablj between 8 and 9 o'clock,
when there was a light seen in it by two
persons who bad just moved to town
Elizabeth bad been absent for some time,
bnt returning tbe next day ,found tlie back
door open, her cupboard and house gener
ally plundered, a crock of lard missing,
alo a set of silver tea-tpoons (unmarked)
belonging to her neice, and ncveral dollars
in money all she bad. It will be well
for our citizens to keep a little extra watcli,
avad use additional means of clearing their
premises.

Revolted that the Morning Times, a da
ily penny paper of Philadelphia, giving
the latest Dews of all kiuds necessary, de
serves, on account of its business as well
as political character, the generous sup
port of the friends of Freedom, in this sud
other States.
Jlemtved that a cheap, weekly psper, f r
general circulation devoted exclusively
to Republicanism is among tbe agencies
now inquired for tbe furtherance of our
cause and the concentration of our strength
at each approaching Election.
The Presbytery of North'd county met
in Sunbury on Tuesday evening of last
week for the purpose of ordaining and en
etalling Rev. James D. Reardon, as Pastor
of the Northumberlund and Suuburv Pres-
i bytcrian Churches. There were eleven
i ministers and ten elders present.
Rer. Mr. Malcom.formerly of Wheeling,
a., has accepted a call from the Second
Raptist Church, of Newport, R. I., to be
come their pastor. This church formerly
enjoyed the ministrations of the late Dr.
Choules.
The Noitb Branch Canal is now oDen
to tbe York State line. Last week boats
loaded with coal passed up to Tioga Point
ana entered tbs canal connecting with the
iew l ork improvements.
We understand that the work on the
Northern Central Railroad between the
Trcverton Bridge and Sunbury, will be let

patched Uol. Titus, with aix armed men,
who recaptured the murderer, and brought
liim to Leconijilon. The prisoner's coun
sel thereupon applied to Judge Lt couiptou
for a writ of habeas corpus.
Gov. Geary bad definitely supendud
the Lecompton trials. ("Important, if
true.")
Columbia, S. C., Nov. 20. The Leg
islature of South Carolina met on Monday.
The Governor, in bis mcssnge, regards the
recent election as im rely establishing a
liiie betweeu the North and the South.
He advocates tbe revival of the slave trade,
and thinks every department of labor sho'd
be in the baoiis of slaves.

give two soirees, Monday and Tuesday
evouiufis of next week. Having been
present at several of the rehearsals, we
