Susquehanna Railroad.
In speaking of the unfinished portion of
the Northern Central Railroad, which is
that part between Harrishurg and Sunbu
ry, the Baltimore Piiti iut, of Saturday,
lays that "when a financial matter now in
the course of negotiation, is consummated,
tho work will be prosecuted with tbe ut
most energy," and thinks that it will be
finished by the comnieticeinent of the year
1850. TLe distance by this route is about
100 miles less to Williauisport than by
the Catawissa route now traveled, so that
the time of traveling between Baltimore
and Xisgara falls will be proportionably j
reduced when the road to Sutbury is op
ened. t&"'o observe that no movement has
jet been made in some counties for ap
pointing delegates to the 4th of July De
mocratic cruvcntien. Ibis rmit-sion oft
duty should bs immediately remedied.
Important subjects will como before the
convention, and no district should be un
represented. The best interests of the
Commonwealth demand the rc-cstablish-mcnt
of the democratic party in power,
and every preliminary step to that desire

Crops in Unioa County.
From personal observation in a portion,
aiid from information gathered from every
rection of this county, wo are prepared
to say that at present every variety of
summer crops looks exceedingly well.
Wheat is beyond danger from the fly, an
increased breadth of land is devoted to its
growth. Rye never looked better. Grass
iu Boiue places sutlers some Iroin lasl IHi s
drought,but is "picking up" fast. Peaches,
Apples, Plums, Cherries, and other fruits
promise abundantly.

ilar good news ; aud the only drawback
upon the prospect of cheap bread through
out the Union, is the evil effect of the i
disastrous dry weather of last fall, from
