The $10 Tax.
The Ncw Berliners say no one can vote
for the county scat without paying S10.
This is not true. Every legal voter may
vote for the Town, Towuihip or Borough 1
whiih may be eligible. And here New
Berlin steps in and would like to locate
tho lot and have the management of the
building. They aro so accustomed of pick
ing from the county Treasury, that they
arc disatiificd that tho law justly provides
that thoso who pay the cost should choose
their own agents. Do not be deceived I
every legal voter can exercise his choice of
a county scat without paying any special
tax or subscription.
The Guaranties.
77ie Timet says the Lcwisburg aud Se
linsgrove Bonds for Court House, Jail, &c
arc "dead" and no longer binding. This
is not true. The Lcwisburg Bond was on
condition that a Division Bill should pass
the Legislature this session. The Bill has
passed. Should they locato a county
s?at at Lcwisburg, that Bond is good for
50,000. The Selitisgrovo Bond of 15,
000 is also binding, iu ease that becomes
a Scat of Justice.

through the snow, and at 1 o'clock, P.M.,
started for another one discovered near the
place whero the former was killed, which
he followed until he lost the track, about
dark, lla then found he had lost his own
way, and should in all probability be obli

thermometer at the timo ranging from 32
degress to 35 degress below zero.
Despair being no part of his composi
tion, with perfect self-posscssisu and pres
ence of mind, he commenced walking, hav
ing no provisions, matches or even a
hatchet, knowing that to remain was cer
tain death. He soon after Leard a deer,
and pursuing him by moonlight, overtook
him, leaped upon his back and cut his
throat. He then dre'sed Lim, and taking
out his heart tilaecd it in pocket as a tro

He continued walking twenty ouc
hours, and the next day at al.nit 10
o'clock, A. M., be came out at or near
Wild River, iu Gilcad, Me., having walk
ed on suow-sboes the unparalled distance I
of 40 miles, without rest, a part of the
time through an intricate growth of un i '

His fricuds at home becoming alarmed
at his prolonged absence, and the intensity
of the coll, three of thetn started in pur
suit of him, vix : Mr. Hayes D. Copp,
his father, John Goulding and Thomas
Culhunc. They followed his traok until
it was lost in the darkness, and by the
aid of their dog, found the deer which
young Copp had killed and dressed. Thry
then bnilt a fire and waited five or six
hours for the moon to rise, to eaulle them
to continue their search.
They again started with but the slight
est hope of ever finding the lost one alive,
pursued his track and after being out
twenty-six hours iu the intense cold, found
the young man ef whom they wcro iu
search.
Goulding froe both cf his feet so badly
that it is feared he will have to 6ufll-r am

froze their cars badly. Xo words can re

with which these men continued an al

expecting to find the stiffened corps of

Young Copp seems cot to have realized

can not entirely recover tho use of his
limbs for from two to six months, talks
with perfect coolness of taking part in
a hunt which he had planned for the next
