cnA eorrcspondent of the Milion tan
writing from Hartleton, Union Co., 2d
inst., states that " considerable exertion is
being made in this part of the county by
the disunionists. Petitions arc circulating,
and already very numerously signed.
.Many have signed them who supported the j
anti-division candidate for representative,
(Maj. Simonton,) and arc strongly in favor
of division. We candidly believe that,
two-thirds of tho people of the north end i
of the county arc in its favor. We consid-
er there is nothing to lose but much to be
gained by it. AVe sincerely hope the leg
islature will no longer listen to the New
Berlin demagogues, who are using their
influential " mite" in opposition to our
wishes and j'Htdues, but give us a county,
and thereby benefit us much. We think
it the duty of the legislature to legislate
for the majority, and not for a few, and
hope they will do so in this case."
