that Ami I'ivison IMuucrats are aupport

as a Dic'utuH man! Here is lx-.t fall's
Jlirlrr game attempted to be played over.
The same tricksters denounce Mr. SEL
LER? as an Ai-ti Dicui'mt man, pledged to
New Berlin interests. This is a shame'ess
fabrication. Mr. S. refu ed to give the pledge
to the New Berliu dictators. His posao n on
the Division question is simply this It is a
hal ipution purtty, in which he has not and
does not profess lu have any ptrnmul feeling
or interest j and he therefore pledges himself
to btith Tnend and lues ot Division aiiKe, to i
be governed in his course on that question by

No doubt Mr. Diitt is a reputable man,
i nd entnled to the l)emocratc support lor
t.ie Senate; and Mr.Sxi.Laa is equally entitled
to the Whig vote.
Dr. Frederick Speck.
It is due to this gentleman to say, that
the reason he has not responded to the in
vitations of the people of the district to
niakii their acquaintance more then be
has, bag been cn the account of the un
usual pressure of professional duiies.
The season has been uncommonly sickly,
everywhere, and he could not as a true
man or faithful physician be spared from
bis patients. We hope the weather may
soon become more favorable for both pa
tients and physicians. l!ut whether he is
able to cauvass or not, there can be no
doubt that Dr. Speck, as a man and as a
citizen, has every qualification to fit him
for a popular, able, and useful Legislator.
WIt generally "takes two to make a
bargain." But it appears that the pre
tended nomination of Mr. Crawford for
Representative was ly Juniata only, the
Union county Cotferecs not being pres
ent ! The Democratic press of this county
repud'ate him as acaudidatc,kuowingthat
the corit -st must lie between Speck and
Simonton. To give little Juniata both
Senator i.nd Representative, and rob Old
Union of any voice in the General As
sembly, would be found quite a job !
