On the first page of this paper will be
found very important law passed by the
last Legislature and signed by the Gover

Makkkt Puces. We bear of com
plaints, occasionally, that the Chronicle's
Price Current is not correctly made out.
This is erroneous. One of our oldest and
best Mercantile establishments corrects
our list, f before ve gotopress. But the
rates there stated, may alter the very next
dav. We can only give what is paid at
the very bonr named, prices it is known
constantly vary.

tffThe quality of the flour turned out

sent to Boston, were immediately sold for
$10.75 per bbL being an advance of
$1.50 over Philadelphia prices of the same

Milton, April 7, 1851.
Dear Sir : Your friendly letter of the
28th nit. was duly received. Accept my
thanks for your warm-hearted congratula
tions on my nomination, and believe me
when I assure yon that yonr nomination
by the Convection would have given mo
greater pleasure than my own selection as
the ' standard bearer " of the Whig party.
Yonr views of the platform of principles
laid dowa by the Convention meet my cor
dial approval, and if our friends can not
sustain the principles embodied in the
Resolutions, wo may forever despair of
success. With united and harmonious
action we must succeed. I will labor to
deserve success.
With you, I regard the Nebraska move
Bent as iniquitous, and as deserving the
repudiation of every lover of freedom and
bis country. The people will pronounce
in thunder tones its condemnation, and
Presidential aspirants will bear and trem
ble. Hoping to have the pleasure of see
ing yon before the close of the campaign,
I am, dear sir, yours very truly,
James Pollock.
