in the House, and about 800 in the Sen
ate. Many of these were for the same ob
ject, and many were passed together as an
" omnibus," but probably half of those

office so comfortably housed. Three
months short as the space of time is
sees great changes made. Many in that
time have been removed by death or emi
gration; and strange faces are in their
stead- Our aubscriptiou book also has a
duth for a few whose names were more fa
miliar than their faces; but thisir pk-.-es
are doubly supplied by new patrons. We
can lardly realize where we are, when
standing on the ruifts of the old building
used as our printing-office, (one of the old
est tenenents in town, aud whose somewhat-eventful
history should be recorded
in its annals) and see before ns the re
mains of the only dwelling-house ever con
sumed by fire in Lewisburg, and of those
razed to the ground to malco room for morn
imposing fabrics. Change is the destiny
man ; and improvement is the order of
the day in Lewisburg. In temporalities
if not in morals,
